Dr. Philip Kanfush started the Bearcat B.E.S.T. transition program at Saint Vincent College in 2015 to serve students with intellectual and developmental disabilities on a college campus with their same-age peers. The program has successfully served nearly 40 students at present, with classes and training in functional academics, independent living, social skills, and vocational skills.

Dr. Kanfush earned B.A., M.B.A., and M.Ed. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, and completed certificates in Applied Behavior Analysis and Children’s Literature from the Pennsylvania State University. He earned the Doctor of Education degree in Special Education at West Virginia University. Dr. Kanfush is a Professor at Saint Vincent College, where he teaches in undergraduate and graduate programs in Special Education. He is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst – Doctoral level. Former Executive Director of the Bearcat B.E.S.T. transition program at Saint Vincent College, he now serves as the program’s Senior Researcher.
