This session will provide critical information for parents and other team members related to preventing and managing problem behaviors that are common for many children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Focus will be on practical methods of teaching alternatives to problem behavior and for reducing how often problem behaviors occur. This session will discuss the importance of situations that lead to problem behavior. We will discuss how to alter our interactions with children with ASD to successfully establish willing learners who communicate their needs more effectively, increase the likelihood of cooperation, and tolerate adverse conditions in the absence of significant problem behavior.
