Research has demonstrated the effectiveness of multi-component approaches at increasing implementation fidelity of para-educator delivered interventions for students with autism and/or other disabilities. However, despite their effectiveness, implementation of these training strategies may require increased amounts of time and resources, thus compromising the feasibility of para-educator training in the special education classroom (Leblanc et al., 2005). This presentation will provide an overview of current models used to train para-educators in schools as well as effective and efficient training strategies that aim at improving implementation fidelity of para-educator delivered interventions and increasing the feasibility of para-educator training in the special education/autism support classroom.
